The “king of comedian” Raju Srivastava passed away
Raju Srivastava felt chest pain on August 10, 2022, while exercising in the gym, and later passed away from a cardiac arrest. He had angioplasty surgery and was put on a ventilator. During his treatment, his brain showed signs of swelling, and he received care from neurologists as well. His status has been described as critical ever since the cardiac attack. He passed away while receiving treatment in Delhi on the morning of September 21, 2022.

Who is Raju Srivastava
An Indian comedian, actor, and politician who went by the stage name Raju Srivastav and was frequently billed as Gajodhar. He has been a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party since 2014. He migrated to Mumbai in the 1980s to work in the Hindi film industry after being born in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Among other films, he appeared in Baazigar, Bombay to Goa, and Aamdani Atthanni Kharcha Rupaiya. He participated in the comedy competition The Great Indian Laughter Challenge and finished in second place. In its spin-off program The Great Indian Laughter Challenge – Champions, he was named “The King of Comedy.” He performed live stand-up comedy frequently.
Profession
He relocated to Mumbai in the 1980s, when he began his acting career by playing bit parts in Bollywood movies. He played a brief role in the Rajshri Productions film Maine Pyar Kiya, as well as supporting roles in a number of other films, including Baazigar and Bombay to Goa. He appeared in the Bollywood film Aamdani Atthanni Kharcha Rupaiya as both an actor and a comedian.
With the talent competition The Great Indian Laughter Challenge in 2005, made a stand-up comedy debut and came in second place. He then participated in its offshoot, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge – Champions, where he took home the “The King of Comedy” title. He rose to fame thanks to this program.
He expressed concern about the coarse language in comedy shows in an interview in 2009 at the time. He thought that comedians should learn self-control. Srivastav received threatening phone calls from Pakistan in 2010 telling him not to joke about Pakistan and underworld don Dawood Ibrahim during his presentations. He performed more than 2,800 live performances by 2009.
Raju and his wife took part in Nach Baliye season 6, a couples dance competition on StarPlus, in 2013. Additionally, he had an appearance on Comedy Nights with Kapil. Additionally, he participated in the Hindi reality TV talent show Mazaak Mazaak Mein.
Srivastav took part in Bigg Boss (Hindi season 3), the Indian version of the Big Brother series, in 2009. He was voted out of the home on December 4th, 2009, after more than two months of residence. He had added, “If Shilpa wanted to be a mother so desperately, then she should know that Shakti Kapoor was waiting for her outside,” in Bigg Boss Hindi season 11 in 2017. Srivastav apologized for his comment after receiving criticism on social media.

Involvement in politics
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Srivastava was a candidate for the Samajwadi Party (SP) in the Kanpur Lok Sabha seat. Srivastav, however, returned the ticket on March 11 because he felt he was not receiving enough backing from the party’s local units. SP anticipated that he would resign because the race for the seat had grown crucial. After quitting, SP withdrew his application for Kanpur.
On March 19, 2014, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) just a few days after leaving SP. He was not given a 2014 Lok Sabha ticket by the BJP. He ran an electoral campaign for BJP candidates in the Lok Sabha and Assembly. He was chosen in 2014 by the BJP-led Union government to serve as the campaign’s brand ambassador and recorded commercials for it. Srivastav stated on social media in 2018 that he will have the opportunity to run for Lok Sabha as a BJP candidate in the 2019 Indian general election, but that opportunity never came to pass. (He was named chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Film Development Council by the state’s BJP-led administration in March 2019).
